Indianapolis Dental Crown

A dental crown completely covers a tooth and can make your tooth stronger and improve its appearance by restoring its natural shape and size. A dental crown can cover and support a tooth with a large filling when there isn’t enough tooth structure left, or if you have a cavity too large to be fixed with just a filling. It can be used to attach a dental bridge, protect a weak or decayed tooth from breaking, restore a tooth that’s already broken, or cover a dental implant. A crown is a good way to cover a tooth that is discolored or isn’t aesthetically shaped.

How is a dental crown made?

A dental crown is fabricated in a dental lab. Dr. Tomalty will prepare your tooth for the crown and remove any tooth decay, and then take an impression or mold of your prepared tooth.  After the dental crown is fabricated, it will be cemented onto your tooth. Just like a natural tooth, a dental crown still requires brushing, flossing, and regular dental cleanings.
